A skills development programme aimed at creating jobs for unemployed young graduates
has been launched in Pretoria. The SmartCity Community Contact project was jointly
launched by the City of Tshwane and the governments of Finland and the United States.
The project is a collaboration of the Youth Development Trust, City of Tshwane Metropolitan
Municipality, United States Agency for International Development, Embassy of Finland,
the Innovation Hub and Khanyisa Real Systems.
The purpose is to generate efficient, effective and instant communication between
stakeholders through the use of innovative technologies. Unemployed university and
technikon students trained through this programme will become skilled business and
workforce by partnering with various organisations.
